Cheyanna’s Champions 4 Children(CC4C), is a non-profit organization founded in Austin to help support families and children suffering from rare or undiagnosed medical conditions. CC4C looks to create a haven, a community of support to turn to for resources, comfort, and healing. They form alliances with top medical research institutions to help find a diagnosis, the best available treatments, and financial support for medical procedures that health insurance does not cover.
CC4C works with the families of children (aged 5-18) and partners with celebrities, professionals, and local high school sports teams. Each sponsored child is placed on a high school “Dream Team” The team dedicates their season to bringing joy and inspiration to the child while the team makes their child an honorary teammate for the school year. In turn, the program inspires the student-athletes to be role models to younger children, and to live and train with care and concern for others. These partnerships create a community of support and which inspires the children to stay positive and continue the fight.
CC4C was founded by Talaya Fraizer, after her own experience with daughter Cheyanna. She turned to running marathons as a respite from the feeling of powerlessness brought on by wondering and waiting for her daughters’ diagnosis and cure. While training for the Boston Marathon, Frazier met a young child named Skylar whose doctors said may not live or ever walk again. Frazier told her” You train to walk, and I will train to run and when I come home, I will give you my medal.”
