Your Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring cleaning is the time in which we all buckle down and give our homes a much-needed deep clean to make it fresh again.

Is there anything more satisfying than the feel of a freshly cleaned house? Not really. The feeling of a good clean house is hard to duplicate but it’s usually the end result that leaves you with the satisfaction, not the process. Your spring cleaning requires a lot of effort and while you can’t really get around that (except through ordering maid service), there are a few things you can do to streamline your process. Here are a few tips on how you can efficiently clean your house for spring cleaning.

Spring Cleaning Checklist

  • Shampooing Your Rugs
Synthetic carpets and rugs with waterproof backings can be deep-cleaned with a rotary shampoo machine. Rugs without backings need a professional cleaning.
  • Walls & Ceilings
Use a vacuum to remove dust using a brush tool you can add to the nozzle of the vacuum hose. You can tackle stubborn surface grime with a solvent-free degreaser–it’s best to use a solvent-free degreaser as to not stain the surface with cleaner.
  • Books & Bookshelves
All your wonderful books that you have not read in ages need a good dusting to keep them looking fresh. Dust the bookshelf on which your books rest, too.
  • Upholstered Furnishings
Take cushions outside and beat them by hand to remove any dust that has laid dormant throughout the year. To further clean, always check the tags for care labels as they tell what you can and can’t do to the cushion. You can use a vacuum’s upholstery tools to clean under the cushions.
